Just imagine coming home from work or school and your house being in pieces. Luckily the house that was accidentally destroyed in Detroit was an abandoned, Land Bank-owned house at 5792 Holcomb. Local 4 Detroit reports that Adamo Construction accidentally demolished the home which was in the works to be demolished, but had not been prepped for it. Now because of the mistake, they may have released asbestos into the atmosphere nearby the site where people still live.

The Detroit Building Authority said the property next door at 5798 Holcomb was the correct home under contract for demolition. Now the company could be penelized according to Brian Farkas of the DBA:

A violation of this nature is unacceptable and while we appreciate Adamo’s self-disclosing this violation to us, we have sent them a notice of violation. If they do not challenge it within 7 days, Adamo will be suspended from the bidding process on all demolitions for the 90 days.  This is the same action we take for any company based on an infraction of this nature. Adamo has the right to appeal our decision as a part of our due process.

This is the first violation Adamo has faced after over 3,200 demolitions.
