A burned vehicle was found over the weekend in Muskegon County and burned remains of a body were found in the trunk.

According to WOOD, a homicide investigation is underway for the Muskegon County Sheriffs Department after a burned vehicle was found to have skeletal remains in the trunk of the vehicle.

The vehicle was located southeast of the village of Lakewood Club off the road on a two track trail near Lakewood and Russell Roads in Dalton Township.

Once authorities found out who owned the vehicle, they went to the registered owners home and that is where they found yet another crime had taken place.

So far the Muskegon County Sheriffs Department have not released the identity of the victim found in the burned vehicle but did say this was a planned homicide.

Sheriff deputies, the Montague Police Department and Michigan State Police are all working together in investigating this case.
