The driver of a car involved in a police pursuit was pronounced dead-at-the-scene from injuries sustained after losing control of their vehicle near South Raymond Road in Emmett Township early Sunday Morning.

Battle Creek Police had observed the vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed, around 3:30 AM, swerving on the roadway in the area of Capital Avenue S.W. near Christy Avenue. An officer attempted to stop the vehicle near Golden Avenue but the driver fled at a high rate of speed, running several red lights and stop signs. The driver then failed to negotiate a curve near Raymond Road, crashing and dying from their injuries.

The name of the driver is being withheld until family can be notified.
