A single vehicle crash in Calhoun County led to the death of a Sheridan Township man early Sunday.

Around 12:30am, an off-duty Calhoun County Detective heard a crash and a baby crying, and alerted Sheriff’s Deputies.  Investigation shows that a car headed northbound on 23 Mile Rd in Eckford Township failed to negotiate a curve, leaving the road and crashing into a tree.

The 35-year-old male driver was pronounced dead on arrival, with a 2-year-old girl trapped in the back seat.  The girl was extricated and taken to Bronson Kalamazoo, where she remains in stable condition.

The crash remains under investigation by the accident reconstruction team.
