Michigan's schools chief wants to meet with the state-appointed emergency manager for Detroit's public schools to discuss health and safety concerns in district buildings. Superintendent Brian Whiston says he will call Darnell Earley to set up a meeting. The district closed about 60 schools Monday after dozens of teachers called in sick. Some schools also were closed last week due to teacher absences.
