An elderly Battle Creek man was assaulted and had his money stolen after his motel room was broken into last night.

The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office says that around 7pm Wednesday, they received word from an 88-year-old victim who had been staying at a motel in the 20,000 block of M66 in Pennfield; the man said that a woman broke into his room and assaulted him, before tying him up and taking his cash and debit card.

The man also says that the woman forced him to give her the PIN to access that card.

Their suspect description and vehicle description was given out to deputies, and shortly afterwards a Sheriff’s Sergeant spotted that vehicle in Battle Creek. The passenger, a 56-year-old Battle Creek woman, was taken into custody in connection to this assault and robbery and lodged in jail.

This incident still remains under investigation. If you have any information that could help authorities, you're asked to contact them or call Silent Observer.
