Many of the cases heard in the Circuit Court in Calhoun County are those that involve family matters - divorce, cases involving children, and others.

Both candidates in the race tout their previous legal experience as evidence they are the right candidate to become the Circuit Court judge.

John Sims touts his 37 years of experience as an attorney in Calhoun County, as well as his experience having practiced law in the Circuit Court. Sims, a native of Albion, has an office in Marshall.

His opponent, Tina Yost, cites her experience as an attorney with specialized focus on family matters. She also served as a judicial hearing officer in the family court for 11 years, and points to her 15 years of experience working on cases involving family and children.
