Additional Information

An Olympic themed closing ceremony, activities, prizes, a fire safety demo, free school supplies and a community meet and greet will headline Lakeview Square Mall’s back to school event, Saturday, Aug. 27.
Olympic fanfare will bring a grand finish to the Summer Reading Triathlon program for first through sixth graders from 11 a.m. to noon in the courtyard between Barnes & Noble and JCPenney.
Every child who completed a Reading Journal describing favorite parts in the books that he or she has read, in addition to earning a free book, will also be honored for their participation.
Lakeview Square Mall partnered with Barnes & Noble to host the summer reading program that encouraged young people to develop a lifelong love of reading and hone their reading skills.
Following the Olympic event, families can meet various community organizations, join in activities and pick up free school supplies. Organizations will be gathered in center court from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Battle Creek Fire Department Station #6 will enlist young shoppers in a simulated “smoke house” demonstration. Children will learn how to safely exit a building on fire and filled with smoke. Families can also get up close with a fire department ladder truck and the community’s Red Wagon. Look for these activities outside the shopping center’s North entrance, near Hat World.
Other organizations visiting the mall for community day include:
Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office; CityLinC; The Arc of Calhoun County; Endeavor Charter Academy; The Haven of Rest Ministries, its Good News Childcare facility and Inasmuch House family shelter; Woodlawn Preschool; American Cancer Society; and Community Action Agency.
