Additional Information

Calhoun County Genealogical Society (CCGS) opens its program year with local expert, Shirley Gage Hodges, on Tuesday, September 27th at 7:00 p.m. Meetings are held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS) Church, 16036 Old 27 North, Marshall, MI. All meetings are free and open to the public.
Hodges will be presenting, “Township Records-An Untapped Source” at the group’s meeting. Family researchers are familiar with county level records in Michigan and often overlook the benefit of using township records. Hodges will show why these less used records are worth seeking out. Participants will learn where to find these records and what types of information is available at the township level.
Hodges has presented lectures and workshops at Michigan State University, Union Institute, and Davenport College. She is locally and regionally recognized speaker having spoken throughout the United States and Canada. Hodges is Past President of the Genealogical Speaker’s Guild, a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists, the National Genealogical Society, and numerous local and state societies. Her awards include Recipient of the 2012 Lucy Mary Kellogg Award, 2008 Library of Michigan Genealogy Appreciation Award and 2006 Eaton County (Michigan) Heritage Award.
