What started-out as a home-brewing supply shop, in 1983, has blossomed into a thriving force in the craft beer industry.

Bell’s Brewery, founded in Kalamazoo, announced that they will expand their distribution into Mississippi, Louisiana and Arkansas next year, adding to their current 19 state coverage.

Along with this announcement, a $50-million expansion is taking place at the Comstock Township brewery.

Larry Bell, a Kalamazoo College graduate, told BeerAdvocate Magazine,   “I basically outgrew a home brew hobby. My first brew kettle was a 15-gallon soup pot on a two-range stove. We had plastic garbage pails for fermenters.”

The brewery expansion should be completed by mid-summer of 2016.
