One of the things many teams have done in recent years to energize interest from fans is to build new stadiums and arenas. The Detroit Red Wings are likely to be the next team to do so in Motown, with the Detroit Downtown Development Authority advancing the effort this week. One of the steps taken was to assure there will be no "undesirable" businesses adjacent to the development, including strip clubs, gun shops, drug paraphernalia shops, among others. Churches are even banned from the development area, according to the Detroit Free Press. Here's the story, along with artists renderings of what the project will look like.

What do you think? Do new arenas and stadiums attract more attendees to games?
