A Battle Creek man is heading to trial on charges related to the sexual abuse of a young girl.

The Battle Creek Enquirer reports that on Monday, 33-year-old Caleb Buck waived a preliminary examination, after he was arrested December 27. Police had learned of Buck just over a week earlier, after Child Protective Services learned that a six year old girl, a child of a family friend, had been sexually assaulted. Police allege that the girl stayed over at Buck’s home frequently, and that she told CPS she frequently watched pornography with him.

Police executed a search warrant for electronic devices and say they found child porn, as well as images of Buck sexually abusing the six-year-old; when confronted about this, they say he admitted to accidentally finding the child porn, and that the girl initiated sexual contact with him while he was sleeping. He also said the girl used a camera with a timer to take photos and video of the act.

Buck is charged with two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, and two counts of sexually abusive activity, charges that carry up to a life sentence with a conviction.
