Firekeepers Casino Hotel Championship Begins Friday!

The second installment of the Firekeepers Casino Hotel Championship takes place this weekend at Battle Creek Country Club. The tour stop on the Symetra Tour will feature 144 of the top women golfers looking to earn their LPGA tour card.

After Monday's qualifying round, current Grand Valley State player Christine Meier and Kristi O'Brien, former competitor on the Golf Channel's "Big Break", were able to reach the three-round tournament beginning Friday. There are seven Michigan natives in the tournament.

There are several "Big Break" golfers that are still on the Symetra including Emily Talley, who finished tied for eighth last year in the Firekeepers.

Last year's champion, Min Seo Kwak, shot a tournament-best 65 in the final round to win. She is golfing on the LPGA this year after finishing second on money list on the Symetra.

The top 10 money winners for the year receive their card for the LPGA the following season. The current leader, Alejandra Llaneza, will get her tourney started at 1:26pm Friday. This year's total purse is $100,000.
