The Flint First organization will be holding a community bottled water drive at Sam's Club in Battle Creek on Friday, April 15.

Flint First is a partnership between Saint Mark CME Church, God's Kitchen Battle Creek, Sam's Club and Maverick Express.  The goal of this drive, their second, is to collect over 550 cases of water to help the people of Flint.

So far, the organization has collected and distributed more than 500 cases of water for the people of Flint. Other donors have included Ann J. Kellogg, Dudley and Franklin Schools in addition to members of the church and general public.

On Friday, Maverick Express --a sponsor and trucking company located in Fort Custer Industrial Park-- will stage a semi-trailer in the parking lot of Sam's Club to collect cases of bottled water. Then, the company will transport the water on Saturday to Flint where area churches will distribute it.

You can purchase the 40 bottle cases of water for $4 at Sam's Club, and you don't need to be a member of the club to participate in the drive.  If you cannot make it to the event, call Saint Mark CME Church at 269-964-9220 to make arrangements for drop-offs, at 59 Illinois St. In Post Edition.
