Marshall's Franke Center For the Arts is looking good!   Their Fall schedule is in full swing, and they just nailed down a big grant.

The Franke Center  has been awarded a grant of $15,000 from the State of Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs (MCACA). A portion of that grant was awarded through the National Endowments for the Arts (NEA).  The grant was awarded through the MCACA peer review process and was one of the 559 applications to compete for MCACA fiscal year 2016 funding.

Organizations receiving a MCACA grant award are required to match those funds with other public and private dollars.   Local support comes from area businesses of Eaton, Autocam, Darling Ace Hardware, Team 1 Plastics, Oaklawn Hospital, Edward Jones -Jason Rapelje, Chemical Bank, Marshall Animal Care, Hodges Jewelers, Maplewood of Marshall, The Laurels, Hemmingsen’s Drug Store, Marshall Excelsior Company, Kellogg Community College, Bronson Healthcare, Schuler’s Restaurant, Walters-Dimmick, PS Food Mart/Denny’s, State Farm-Sandy Woods, and McDonalds.  The Franke Center also receives significant community support through their Annual Appeal and fundraisers and in-kind support from local businesses of The Ad-Visor & Chronicle, Blufish Consulting, Eric Dale-Heating & Air Conditioning, Eldon J. Vincent CPA and Zarzuela.

This grant money will allow The Franke Center to continue its mission to create and maintain an arts venue where South Central Michigan area residents are able to enjoy the arts. The Center will continue to remain a cultural and civic gathering center, which engages people in high quality arts and cultural activities and enriches the quality of life for all.

The MCACA peer review process allows for each grant application to be competitively considered by a panel of in-state and out-of-state arts and culture professionals.  This ensures the taxpayers, who support this project through legislative appropriations, and all other visitors or residents in Michigan will have access to the highest quality arts and cultural experiences.

A complete list of grant awards around the State is available by contacting MCACA at (517) 241-4011, or by visiting the MCACA website.
