A Battle Creek man suffered minor injuries early Thursday morning, after his vehicle was struck by a train.

Initial investigation shows that the 81-year-old's SUV was on the train tracks on Kendall Street near Dickman Road, around 8:15am.  A train was unable to stop before colliding with the SUV and pushing it several hundred feet.

Emergency crews responded and were able to extricate the man from the SUV, and the man was not badly hurt.

It's unclear at this time how the vehicle came to be stuck at the railroad crossing.
