This first annual “Fun Run Foodraiser” is this Saturday!   Grab some food items to donate to the Food Bank and come the Battle Creek Family YMCA from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The indoor run/walk will take place in the Y’s multi-sports complex. The first 100 youth to register will receive a free wristband stepcounter.

Participants of all ages and fitness levels will have the opportunity to keep track of the laps they complete with a punchcard. The entry fee is $5 per person at the door or three to five non-perishable food items per person that will be donated to the Food Bank of Southcentral Michigan.

The Fun Run is sponsored by Kellogg Community Federal Credit Union and the Southern Shores Field Service Council with the Boy Scouts of America. The YMCA and Operation FIT have partnered with the sponsors.

“We emphasize the importance of community service and giving back with all of our Scouts,” said Catherine Gorecki, Unit Serving Executive with the Nottawa Trails District of Southern Shores. “This is a great opportunity for everyone in our community to run for a good cause.”

In addition to the running, there will be other fitness-related activities, concessions, and community organization booths.

Dave Tanis, Director of Wellness and Community Engagement for the YMCA, said the Fun Run Foodraiser is a great opportunity to get people active and engaged with their community.

“I am looking forward to welcoming people of all ages to our facility for a few hours of fitness and fun,” Tanis said. “The food collected will go to help individuals in need in our community.”
