The Humane Society of South Central Michigan in Battle Creek is a non-profit that routinely cares for 100 animals every day. They do not receive funds from the government or through contracts with the city of Battle Creek or Calhoun County. They rely solely on local donations and fundraisers for all costs and expenses. They do not receive funds from the national Humane Society organization.

Right now they need your help! The Humane Society of South Central Michigan is participating in a nationwide fundraiser; the 2022 March Muttness. The fundraiser has a series of goals that must be met to move on to the next round. Those gaols are amounts of funds raised. To make it past the first goal, the Humane Society of South Central Michigan needs to raise $2,000.

The funds raised go to help the local shelter with its mission. The Humane Society of South Central Michigan's (HSSCM) mission is to protect animals from suffering and cruelty, to provide safe and responsible care for unwanted or abused companion animals, and to enhance the lives of animals and people through education, adoption, and foster care.

HSSCM offers numerous programs and services to accomplish that mission. They have a free dog park open year-round that offers a safe environment for canine companions to run and play. They also provide training classes, shelter animals for victims of domestic violence, a low-income food bank, and so much more.
