Whether you prefer a motorcycle, bicycle, tricycle or even a unicycle, biking season is getting into full swing in Michigan. And as bikers hit the roads, a Battle Creek church is again giving you a unique opportunity to get the season off to a good start this year. The fourth annual 'Blessing of the Bikes' takes place this weekend at First Presbyterian Church in Battle Creek.

The event happens 10:30am on Saturday, May 12th at the church parking lot at 111 Capital Avenue NE. The free, non-denominational event is held each spring during the month of May. It includes a ceremony with Pastor Pat Weatherwax in which a prayer is held for riders' safety.

Following the blessing, the bikers will ride from Battle Creek to Climax for lunch and ice cream at Bowman's BBQ. The first thirty to attend receive a commemorative bandana.  The event is weather permitting and more information is available at the church website's events page.
