Several girls basketball teams in the area have a chance to advance to next week's regionals in the Michigan High School Athletic Association's playoffs. Among them are four teams from Battle Creek and an area squad looking for another run to the Breslin Center.

The Lakeview Spartans are making their first appearance in a district final since 2010 and will take on the Holt Rams on their floor.

In Class B, the Marshall Redhawks look to knock off the Harper Creek Beavers for the third time this season. Marshall's last district title came in 2013, while Harper's came a year previous. Also in Class B action, the Olivet Eagles look to earn their first district title in four years when they take on Jackson Northwest at Leslie.

In Class C, the Galesburg-Augusta Rams will look for their first district title since 2009, a year after their state runner-up finish, as they take on the Springport at Potterville. The Homer Trojans will look to make a deep run, their first since 1982, as they take on Hillsdale at Reading.

Finally in Class D, Athens has made their way to at least the State Quarterfinals since 2011. The Indians will host Mendon tonight. The St. Philip Tigers will look for their first district championship since 2010 as they take on the hosting Bellevue Broncos, who are two seasons removed from their last title.

The Calhoun Christian Cougers are in their first title game in school history and will vie for the trophy at Climax-Scotts tonight when they take on Martin, a district champ from last year in Class D.
