After 5-years and 305,000 miles of service, the God's Kitchen - Battle Creek delivery vehicle has retired. The vehicle broke down on Wednesday night in front of Meijer on Harper Village Drive in Emmett Township. The tire rod snapped, rendering the vehicle inoperable. Recently, the soup kitchen invested more than $1,000 to make repairs. A new exhaust system and brakes were installed on the 1997 Honda Civic Hatchback. The vehicle was donated by Pastor Mary and Robert Gault of Battle Creek.

God's Kitchen - Battle Creek has launched an emergency GoFundMe page fundraiser in hopes of collecting $25,000 in donations to purchase a replacement vehicle. To make a tax-deductible donation, go to www.gofundme.com/godskitchenvehicle, or mail your contribution to God's Kitchen - Battle Creek, P.O. Box 4127, Battle Creek, Michigan 49016. Please write "vehicle fund" in the memo column on the check.

God's Kitchen - Battle Creek is a church-owned, 501(c)(3) soup kitchen. The organization has served more than 98,000 dinners since it began feeding the hungry on October 11, 2011.
