In spite of efforts from Governor Snyder, aggregate funding for Michigan public universities in the next state budget will still be below what they were five years ago, before a major cut. According to the Associated Press, Snyder forwarded a proposal to bring them back to the levels they were at when he took office in 2011. More than a third of the 15 state universities will receive less than they did in the 2010-2011, fiscal year.
