Our incomes in Michigan have risen for the first time since 2007.

New census data reveals that median incomes in Michigan have risen 1.7% since 2012.

Michigan's median household income in 2013 rose to $48,273, increasing 1.7 percent from 2012, according to the American Community Survey.

There is even better news for the six-county southeast Michigan area, median income increased 1.9 percent to $51,857.

Now let's compare that with median income nationally, they rose 0.6 percent to $52,250.

Unfortunately the median household income nationally over the last six years is 8% lower than 2007.

Hopefully Michigan will continue in the right direction.
