A hearing has been delayed for a Calhoun County man accused of killing his friend in late December.

WWMT reports that 29-year-old Stephen Getter was set to appear in Calhoun County Court in Battle Creek on Monday for a preliminary examination, to determine if enough evidence existed to send him to trial on a charge of murder. However, that hearing has now been moved to a later date.

28-year-old Robert Barroso went missing December 27, with his body found almost 2 weeks later. Prosecutors say that Getter shot and killed Barroso the night of December 27, in Lee Township. Barroso was also found with stab wounds over his body.

The suspect and victim had been friends for a long time, but this death allegedly arose from an argument the two had been having over a woman.
