Today,  (Thursday, October 29), the Calhoun County Land Bank will partner with Battle Creek-area business Markos Excavating to demolish a blighted house at 87 High St. in Battle Creek. The demolition is just one piece of the Land Bank’s broader plan to improve neighborhoods and eliminate blight in Battle Creek and throughout Calhoun County.

The Calhoun County Land Bank works with public, private and nonprofit partners to promote neighborhood stabilization and redevelopment.

Above is the house as it was in 1940.   An insurance company had photographed every building in the City of Battle Creek.  Several years ago, someone found those photos in a dumpster next to City Hall, and they were saved and donated to Willard Public Library.
