It's about 800 miles away. But what's going on there could have a bearing on nationwide food labeling. Specifically, the labeling of food with genetically modified organisms - or GMO's. But, Michigan is about to usurp Vermont in the national spotlight on the issue.

The GMO labeling debate also signals a shift in politics - or a least, perceived political viewpoints, according to former Kellogg lobbyist, author and attorney George Franklin.
