How White Are You?
Have you ever wondered how white you are, well a professor at San Diego State University has created a quiz to let you know.
The College Fix news website is reporting about Professor Dae Elliott who has decided to offered her sociology class students, a “White Privilege Checklist”, if they take this test the students will earn extra credit.. This “checklist” has 20 questions in which once answered you will be able to know how white you are the the amount of privilege that comes with being sooooo white, thanks professor.
According to a picture of the quiz on the news website, some of the questions are:
- I can choose blemish cover or bandages in flesh color and have them more or less match
my skin. - I can be late to a meeting without having the lateness reflect on my race.
- I am not made acutely aware that my shape, bearing, or body odor will be taken as a
reflection on my race. - I can enroll in a class at college and be sure that the majority of my professors will be of
my race.
To determine your level of “white privilege” you are told to add up your scores. Us
whites with a higher score means that we have high levels of “white privilege” those non-
white people with lower scores means they have a lower level of privilege.
I am so happy that the professor has come up with a way of letting me know how guilty
as a white man I should feel. Glad that is off my white chest.
