Bearcats Roll To First Win: HS Basketball

If you were looking for fast-paced, run-the-floor action, you would have seen or heard it in the Battle Creek Central Bearcats 82-68 win over the Highland Park Renaissance Academy Polar Bears Tuesday night. It was the final game of the Chuck Turner Classic this year at the Battle Creek Central Fieldhouse, after the Bearcats fell 88-58 to the Ann Arbor Huron River Rats Monday night.

Both teams used the full-court press and forced several turnovers, but the Bearcats (1-5) used the size and strength of their post players to pull them ahead. Senior Ahmed McKinney led the Bearcats with 20 points to go along with eight rebounds. Nine other Bearcats entered the book, with senior DeMonte Thomas adding 13 points and sophomore Demetrius Craig put in 12.

The Polar Bears had a strong showing from their top player, senior guard Keonte Carter, who scored a game-high 30 points, 14 coming in the second quarter.

The Bearcats are back on the road on Tuesday, January 6th, as they head up to Holt to take on the Rams. Here are your other scores...
