Beavers Dropped By Titans: HS Basketball

The Harper Creek Beavers looked to take control of the Interstate 8 lead, but the Jackson Lumen Christi Titans came back in the second half to prevail Tuesday night. The two state-ranked teams had only four players score on the night, with Lumen Christi have all four in double figures in a 71-68 victory.

Harper Creek received a game-high 25 points from TraVon Johnson in the loss, while Khylen Watkins added 20 and James Cadena scored 17. Brandon Hutson and Jack Thompson each gathered 10 rebounds on the night.

Michigan State-bound Khari Willis led the Titans with 24 points. Devin Edwards added 20 and Damarion Snellenburg chipped in 15 and brought in nine boards.

The loss for the Beavers puts them a game behind the Titans in the I-8 race for the title.

Here are the rest of Tuesday's scores, as Lakeview and Pennfield both fall in overtime, St. Philip dominates against Tekonsha, and the final undefeated Boys team in the area falls.
