HS Basketball: Tigers Head West

In what has turned into a rivalry between two South Central Athletic Association West Division squads, tonight's game might have a slight difference in feel.

Over the last couple of seasons, St. Philip and Climax-Scotts have dueled to games decided by five points or less, overtimes and determining a division title. This season has not been the case.

For the Fighting Tigers of St. Philip, this could be the win that's needed to propel them into postseason play in three weeks. While out of the SCAA West race, they could the spoiler. Since their five-point loss to the Panthers on January 29th, the Tigers have ran off three straight wins, including Tuesday's 68-60 overtime win against Camden-Frontier. The victory put them at 7-9 on the season.

Since the January battle the Climax-Scotts Panthers have seen a significant dip, losing three of their last four games after a 10-3 start. It includes two straight defeats following a 60-51 loss to Hillsdale Academy. A win tonight will keep them ahead of Bellevue for the West division lead.
