HS Basketball: Crosstown Battle, Non-Conference Foes

Two teams familiar with battles of old return to the hardwood tonight as non-conference foes for the second straight year.

The Lakeview Spartans will make their way over the Harper Creek tonight to take on the Beavers, with the chance to keep them winless against city teams this season. The two former Twin Valley and Southwestern Michigan Athletic Conference rivals will see each other for the second straight time in non-conference.

The Spartans are looking to end a current two-game losing skid following Friday's 54-36 defeat at home to the Battle Creek Central Bearcats. They are also looking to end a three-game losing skid to the Beavers. Their last victory over Harper Creek was three years and a day ago, where they topped the Beavers 71-49 at home.

The Beavers have run off three straight wins, all coming last week, after going through a stretch of losing four-of-five games. They have won by double digits in each of last week's victories, and look to continue the trend tonight.

Last season at Lakeview, the Beavers came in and picked up their fourth straight win after suffering their first loss of the season with an 80-64 victory. The Spartans have been tough on teams this season, especially those with winning records.
