The Harper Creek Beavers stuck to their game plan and passed with flying colors in a 94-73 victory over the Marshall Redhawks Friday. After leading by just two after the first quarter, the Beavers would hold the Redhawks to 12 points the next two quarters to pull away. The Beavers started the second half on a 14-2 run in the first 3:39 to stretch what was a 46-36 lead to a 60-38 runaway.

Senior guard TraVon Johnson matched his season high with 32 points to go along with 10 rebounds and six dishes for Harper Creek (17-2), who finished in second in the inaugural Interstate 8 Conference standings. Khylen Watkins added 23 points with a 11 in the first quarter, and James Cadena was a point short of his season average with 16.

Jacob Brubaker tried to lead the charge back in the fourth quarter for the Redhawks (8-10), scoring 12 of his team-high 25 points in the loss. Marshall finishes the I-8 schedule in a three-way tie with Pennfield and Parma Western for fifth place.

Here are the rest of the scores, as Battle Creek Central, Lakeview and Pennfield all fall, while St. Philip continues their solid play on the road. Also, congratulations to Marshall's Girls on a successful 19-1 regular season.
