Tale Of Two Halves: HS Basketball – February 4

The Lakeview Spartans have not had many chances to play ahead in many ball games this year, but they had a huge chance Tuesday against the Harper Creek Beavers. After leading the first quarter by three and trailing by a single point at the half, the Spartans had the game slip away in a 80-64 loss to the Beavers.

Harper Creek received a game-high 24 points from senior TraVon Johnson to move them to 11-1 on the season. Senior Khylen Watkins added 15 and senior James Cadena chipped in 14 for the 10th-ranked team in Class B.

Sophomore CJ Foster scored 11 of his 13 points to help the Spartans (1-10). Nick Adams also scored 13 off the bench, while Hunter Bost put in 12 points.

Here are the rest of the scores, including a key non-conference win for Pennfield at home, and three of the four girls teams in action earned victories.
