HS Basketball – Harper Creek Ends Skid With Crosstown Win

The second half of the High School Basketball schedule kicked off with two Battle Creek squads dueling it out at the historic Central Fieldhouse.

The Harper Creek Beavers and the Battle Creek Central Bearcats used to battle each other twice a year when they were members of the Southwest Michigan Athletic Conference. While Central remains in the SMAC, Harper Creek's move to the Interstate 8 four years ago has not changed a pleasant non-conference game with each other since.

This year's contest saw two struggling teams looking to get back into the win column. The Beavers entered with five straight losses, while the Bearcats had dropped three straight after earning their first win on the season during the holidays.
