The Union City Chargers were off and running Friday, using their fast-break transition to their advantage over the St. Philip Tigers. The Chargers move to 5-0 on the season with a 58-35 victory, which drops the Tigers back under .500 at 2-3.

Leading the Chargers was junior Colin Kreger, who scored eight of his game-high 15 points on the break. Junior Jalen Boes added 10 points, while senior Darren Austin and junior Elijah Way each chipped in nine.

The Tigers struggled from the field, just shooting 20 percent on the night. Hunter Haley scored 10 points to lead St. Philip, with Dreyson English, Brayden Darr and Kevin Greenman each with five points.

The St. Philip Girls returned to the winners column in their battle in Union City, prevailing 34-21. The Lady Tigers move to 5-2 while the Lady Chargers fall to 2-4.
