Spartans Look For First Triumph: HS Basketball-January 13

The Lakeview Spartans are still seeking their first win after dropping five straight to start the season. They hope to do it at home tonight as they host the Portage Central Mustangs in a Southwest Michigan Athletic Conference non-divisional battle.

After narrowly falling during the holiday to South Haven, the Spartans fell on the road to Plainwell on January 6th for their fifth straight defeat. With an extra week of work (after a postponed road game at Kalamazoo Central), the Spartans look to get back to the winner's column for the first time.

They'll see a Portage Central Mustangs squad that will return to Battle Creek for the second time in the last week, after they suffered an 82-54 thumping from the Harper Creek Beavers a week ago. At 1-4, the Mustangs are looking to return to a little bit of consistency to get them their second win.
