The High School Basketball season enters 2016 with new hope for some area squads, beginning tonight at St. Philip. The Fighting Tigers will look to end a two-game slide tonight against a winless Athens Indians squad.

The Tigers have struggled in the last two games with turnovers, including their 68-48 loss to the Union City Chargers on December 30th. While the offense has started to gel slowly, the defense is still finding its way facing taller opponents.

The Indians are still searching for their first win on the season, dropping their first three games before the holiday break. Their last game was December 18th, when they were hammered by Union City 76-37. Athens is still trying to find some offense outside of senior center Sebastian Hamilton, who averages 14.3 points and eight rebounds a game.

It's a light schedule tonight before the rest of area schools return to action. Join me tonight around 7pm on WBCK, online at wbckfm.com and through our RadioPup app!
