HS Basketball: A Short Trip

The Interstate 8 Conference schedule continues tonight with a crosstown rivalry at Harper Creek. The hosting Beavers will get their first look of this season's Pennfield Panthers on the hardwood.

The two teams played three times last season, with Harper Creek prevailing in all three. While the lone contest at Pennfield was separated by eight points, both contests on the Beavers' home floor resulted in two blowouts. The second of those meetings ended Pennfield's year in the Class B District Semifinals.

Both teams have gone through some changes. Pennfield lost some size in graduating center Ryan Lowe, while Harper Creek's starting lineup was overhauled due to their graduating starting five.

Pennfield comes to the contest at 2-2 (0-1 Interstate 8) and topped the Otsego Bulldogs 66-57 on the road Tuesday. This will be their first conference game since December 18th, when they fell at home to the Marshall Redhawks in overtime.

Harper Creek looks to stay undefeated at home, as they sit at 3-2 on the year (2-0 Interstate 8). With just two games on their floor, the Beavers have dropped two of their three games on the road, including Tuesday's non-conference defeat to the Portage Central Mustangs.
