HS Basketball: A Road Trip For A Crosstown Rivalry

For the second straight broadcast, two teams that are very familiar with each other will square off for the third time this season and look to advance in the Michigan High School Athletic Association's Boys Basketball Districts.

The Battle Creek Central Bearcats are in the District Semifinals following a 71-51 victory Monday at home over Parma Western. They will make their way to Sturgis for the first time in two years to take on the Lakeview Spartans tonight in the semifinals.

Central has won both times this season against Lakeview, including a 68-45 victory at home just six days ago. That victory is part of their 10 wins in the last 11 games.

The Spartans had a bye into the semifinals and will look to end a four-game skid, including Friday's 46-27 loss at Portage Central.

While it's been two years since the Bearcats have traveled to St. Joseph County, the Spartans were there in January where they would fall to the hosting Trojans 49-44. Tonight's winner will take on the Trojans or the Loy Norrix Knights in the District Final at Sturgis at 7pm.
