HS Basketball: Spartans Storm Back For Victory

The Lakeview Spartans had struggled to put together four solid quarters this season. In recent games, they have put together two very solid quarters instead.

That was the case Tuesday night at Harper Creek, as the two solid quarters would be both in the second half and would pull them into the win column in a 60-51 victory over the Beavers.

The Spartans (3-8) took their first and only lead just a minute into the fourth quarter after trailing by as much as 11 points to the Beavers. Lakeview would never look back.

Senior center Jared Fisk tallied a double-double on the night with a game-high 19 points and 11 rebounds for the Spartans. CJ Foster scored six of his 12 points in the fourth quarter and Marcus Alvarez pitched in 10 points off the bench.

The Beavers (7-6) received a team-high 13 points from senior guard JaCory McNutt, recording eight of them in the second quarter for the Beavers (7-6) in a reserve role. Junior guard Jeremiah Davis had 12 points on the night.

The Lakeview win ends a three-game skid against Harper Creek, while the loss keeps the Beavers winless against city teams this season (0-3) with one game against Pennfield later this month.
