The Interstate 8 Conference race had already determined its champion, but a rivalry between the two top teams in the conference had no records attached.

It was the Harper Creek Beavers that would get off to a quick start and use a fourth quarter run to pull away with a 78-71 victory over the Marshall Redhawks Friday night. The win for the Beavers (12-7) would be their fourth straight and end a red-hot Redhawks squad that had won 15-in-a-row.

Junior guard Jeremiah Davis had 19 points to lead the Beavers, who had four players in double figures. Senior Brandon Settles would add 18 points, with senior David Thompson earning a double-double with 14 points and 15 boards.

A game-high 32 points from senior Jacob Brubaker would not be enough to lead the Redhawks (15-3). Marcus Waters would put in 17 on the night.
