HS Basketball: Strong 2nd Half In Tigers Victory
A trio of juniors helped carry the St. Philip Tigers to a victory Monday night, as they hold off the Athens Indians at Sheila Guerra Gymnasium.
St. Philip held a 30-26 lead at the half and would hold Athens to just 14 points in the second half to give them a 55-40 victory. The win ends a two-game skid for the Tigers and keeps the Indians winless.
Guard Ben Swagler scored nine of his game-high 21 points in the second quarter to put the Tigers ahead and for good, evening their record at 3-3 on the season. Drew Lantinga would add 11 points on the night, with Zach Nelson chipping in 10.
Athens received a 13-point, 10-rebound evening from senior center Sebastian Hamilton in the loss, who fall to 0-4 on the season.
