HS Basketball: Bearcats Run Away With Semifinal Win

The Battle Creek Central Bearcats and Lakeview Spartans battled for the third time this season and for the second time in the past week. The game at Sturgis had a lot more meaning Wednesday night, as the Class A District Semifinals took place. Unfortunately for Lakeview, it was the same result as it has been in the previous two match-ups.

Thanks to a 11-0 run and a 13-0 run in the first half, the Bearcats ran away with a 73-42 victory over the Spartans to advance to Friday's District Final. That game will also take place in Sturgis against the Loy Norrix Knights at 7pm.

Senior Cyntell Williams scored 10 of his game-high 23 points in the second quarter, as the Ferris State-bound forward came off the bench and sparked both runs. He also had seven assists on the night. Junior Juan Warren added 18 points and seven rebounds. Senior Brett White was just short of a double-double with eight points and eight boards.

Junior guard Anthony Evans didn't play until the second half for the Spartans, but popped in six threes to lead Lakeview with 19 points in the loss. Senior DaLeon Graham put in eight and grabbed seven rebounds. Lakeview ends their season at 6-15.
