Harper Creek started their 2014 season on the wrong foot at Caledonia with a blowout loss on the road. This year, they didn't fair any better.

After their first drive of the season ended with a Josh Bohannon 29-yard field goal, it was all the Beavers could muster in a 40-3 loss to the Fighting Scots Friday night. On the Beavers lone scoring drive, Brennan Haweblitz scored a touchdown from seven yards out, but was called back on an illegal shift penalty.

Caledonia would score on their first drive of the season on a Justin Zoet 3-yard run and would not relinquish the lead after that. Quarterback Tanner Christian would go 10-for-11 passing for 236 yards and three touchdowns, while running for 89 yards on 13 carries and two more scores.

The Beavers' signal caller David Thompson would complete nine of 17 passes for 117 yards and an interception on the night.

Time of possession was even between the two teams, but Harper went just three of 11 on the night on third down.

Here's the rest of Friday's scores, including a tough luck loss for Battle Creek Central and Pennfield picks up a win on the road.
