There are high expectations for teams that make their way from the 11-man game to 8-man in the first season. The Bellevue Broncos are truly bucking the trend in their 8-man debut.

The fifth-ranked squad in the state put the new Division 1 of 8-man on notice this week, concluding their regular season at home with the St. Philip Fighting Tigers. It started as a defensive battle in our Game of the Night, but the Broncos would pull away in the second half on Parents Night.

Thanks to playoff points, both teams are expected to be in the Michigan High School Athletic Association's postseason in 8-man, with St. Philip in Division 2 due to enrollment.

Take a look below for the complete recap Friday's contest and all the area scores. There are even a few surprises in the MHSAA's final week.
