HS Football: Turnovers Don’t Hurt Bearcats In Road Win

The Battle Creek Central Bearcats were able to find their stride after a rough first half that saw four turnovers. After two lead changes in the half, the Bearcats would eventually run away with a 28-12 victory over the Gull Lake Blue Devils in Richland Friday night to keep the Southwest Michigan Athletic Association East Division lead intact.

Two Central players would rush for over 100 yards, led by 136 yards from Cyntell Williams on 10 carries. Quarterback Dennis Watson would provide 120 yards on the ground and two touchdown runs of four and 25 yards, respectively. The Bearcats would end up with 322 yards rushing to go along with six lost fumbles out of eight, and 11 penalties for 98 yards.

The Blue Devils received 110 yards on 22 carries from running back Ben Kramer, part of the team's 141 total yards on the ground.

The Bearcats return home to host the Mattawan Wildcats next Friday, while the Blue Devils travel to Kalamazoo Central to take on the Maroon Giants.
