From the first whistle, the St. Philip Fighting Tigers put their blueprint of a victory to use.

That play would be a 52-yard touchdown run from senior running back Brayden Darr to give the Tigers the lead over the Lawrence Tigers, and they would never look back. Darr would have a huge night on the ground, as St. Philip advances to their first 8-Man State Semifinal next week with a 58-14 victory over the defending 8-Man Champion Lawrence Tigers.

The Fighting Tigers would gain over 430 yards of offense, mainly on the ground, as Darr would score seven times during a 30-carry, 360-yard night. Senior quarterback Brennen Gausselin would also connect with wideout David Downey on two touchdown passes on the night. The St. Philip defense would hold the explosive Lawrence offense to just 283 yards.

Senior quarterback Hunter Coombs would run for a 12-yard touchdown and throw for a 65-yard score in the losing effort for Lawrence. He would go 15-for-33 for 188 yards and run 15 times for 47 yards on the evening.

St. Philip returns to action November 14th as they host the Deckerville Eagles, who doubled up Morrice in their Regional Final Friday night, 40-20. The Eagles look to return to the 8-Man Finals after they won their state championship in 2012, just the second year of 8-Man play.
