HS Football: Let The Playoffs Begin

Two former 8-Man conference foes battle tonight to begin the Regional Semifinals of the Michigan High School Athletic Association postseason.

The St. Philip Tigers enter the postseason undefeated for the second time in the last three seasons, as they host the Portland St. Patrick Shamrocks in the Region 3 semifinal. Tonight's winner will take on familiar foes - Lawrence and Waldron - in the Regional Finals next week. A St. Philip win will give them another home game for the final.

Two weeks ago, the Tigers traveled to Portland and knocked off the Shamrocks 45-20. It was the third straight win over Portland St. Patrick for the Tigers, following three straight defeats to the Shamrocks. All three of those losses came in 2012, the first year the Tigers played in 8-Man competition.
