HS Football: One More Game Today

We conclude the first week of the MHSAA Playoffs this afternoon, as the Marshall Redhawks return to the postseason for the first time since 2012.

The Redhawks will host to this year's Wolverine Conference runner-up, the Vicksburg Bulldogs, who enter the game with a matching 7-2 record. Marshall will look to forget how they ended the regular season, with a 25-16 defeat to the Portland Raiders. While the loss was on the road, the Redhawks other loss came at home to Coldwater in Week 2. The winner of today's game travels to Coldwater next week to take on the undefeated Cardinals in the District Final.

The Bulldogs are back in the postseason for the second straight year and the fourth time in school history. They were able to advance to the Division 4 District Final last season before falling to Edwardsburg to end the season. This year's record also ties their best record in school history, following a 7-2 2010 season that put them in the postseason for the first time.

Marshall and Vicksburg have not played each other in 29 years, where the Redhawks were a different mascot and finishing five straight years where the two teams opened the season against each other. Marshall is 4-1 in the series history, with the Redhawks winning the last four games.
