HS Football Preview – Spartans Seek Homecoming Win (VIDEO)

The seventh week of High School Football takes us to Lakeview for the second time this season, as the Spartans host a non-divisional battle with the St. Joseph Bears.

The record shows the Spartans at 1-5 on the season. What it doesn't show is how tough Lakeview has been against every squad they have played. None of their losses have been more than at least a two-score difference, including last week's 13-0 loss to Stevensville-Lakeshore.

This is the first meeting between these two schools since 2015, where the Spartans fell to the Bears 45-27. Since 1950 the Spartans have held an 8-7 lead in their 15 meetings, but the Bears have won four of the last five meetings. Lakeview's only win in that stretch was in 2014, when the Spartans shut out St. Joseph 35-0 on their way to an 7-1 regular season. It was also a part of Lakeview's deepest trip in the playoffs, reaching the Regional Finals in Division 2.
